How to stop your mind from overthinking

Whatever you do, start by being lazy and slack about it. Start by being very rough about it. Start by letting go of all attachment to outcomes.

After you’ve coasted for a while, you’ll slowly start to notice a difference. What you’re learning takes off, and suddenly you’re better than before.

It’s actually a very interesting process. You were just being lazy, planning to coast for a couple of days, but as you keep coasting, you find you’ve even forgotten you were coasting. Slowly, a month has passed, then several months, then a whole semester. You only wanted a passing grade, but one day you discover you’re scoring 70, 80, even 90.

And you keep coasting. Your scores get higher and higher, your ranking more and more stable. Next thing you know, you’ve surpassed most people.

This is quantity determining quality. A rough start is the best start. That’s how success comes.

What defeats perfectionists is constant planning. Actually, all you need is a rough start.

Never get anxious about things in advance. Life is just about dealing with things as they come.
